Cairns Home and Camping Expo
Over the weekend of the 13th-15th of May 2016 we joined forces with the TNQ Sustainble Community Alliance to have a stall at the Cairns Home and Camping Expo to inform people about some of the community options from around the tablelands. Let me say it has been such a pleasure to be part of this alliance it is a great thing to show people the different options for living and working together. It has also shown me the amazing things we can accomplish when we work together towards a common goal, and how each person has a fresh prospective and a different skill set to bring to the table.
We were also there to get the word out about our newest venture Emerald Escape Camping! We were so hoping to have it all up and running and be ready to take bookings in time for this event, but as life goes it has been a lot more work than we had initially thought it would be, not just the physical work of getting the sites and infrastructure ready, but all the work behind the scenes like insurance, rules, how to take booking, building a website, the list goes on and on. But we are working hard to check it all off the list and to get everything that is needed to get us up and running.
We had always heard that people would love to go camping on the land and that if we opened something there would be a lot of interest, but it was not until this expo that we really got to see just how excited people are about the opportunity to have privet camping just 1 hour from Cairns with open spaces and places to go swimming. We had an overwhelming amount of people that were ready to book then and there, and will be anxiously waiting for the opening so they can come and check it all out.
We would also like to say thank you to everyone that stopped by to say hello and learn more about all the amazing projects we were there to represent. It was great to catch up with some old friends and also to meet so many new people.
If you missed us we will have a stall at the Cairns EcoFeista on
the 29th May 2016 so we hope to see you there! it should be another
great event.
